  Part One ~ Erika

“To an awesome trip,” I toasted, raising my glass up to my best friend Alicia.

“To an awesome trip,” she echoed, touching her glass to mine before we both took a drink.

My divorce from my husband of eight years had been final a couple of weeks ago and we decided to take a trip to celebrate my newly found freedom. Alicia’s parents had a condo on the beach in Miami and offered it up to us. They went to Europe for a couple of weeks and we had the place to ourselves. The idea of escaping the cold Chicago winter sounded amazing, so we booked our tickets.

The week had been exactly what I needed. My divorce hadn’t been too complicated; we didn’t have any kids and I didn’t want anything of his after catching him cheating on me. I was glad to have it behind me and wondered what was next for me after spending the last ten years of my life with him.

I couldn’t help but replay the scene in my head when I caught Adam fucking that girl in our bed. She was one of his students at the college he taught at - only twenty-one years old. I’d come home unexpectedly because a case I’d been in court for was delayed. I thought I’d surprise him and we could spend the afternoon together.

In a rare moment for me, I lost it when I found them. I started screaming and threw her clothes out the front door. I slapped Adam and then left, driving right to Alicia’s. I wouldn’t take his calls or texts and sent her over to get some stuff for me. I called the best divorce lawyer the next day and started the proceedings. To know he’d been cheating was one thing, but I was utterly humiliated that he’d been doing it in our house and in our bed. I was completely broken and wanted nothing to do with him again.

Deep down I’d suspected he’d been cheating on me for a while, but I was the queen of denial. I buried myself in my work, pretending my life was perfect. Sometimes there were days when we barely said more than twenty words to each other. Communication was lacking in a big way. I vowed if I ever got involved with a man again, that would be the number one requirement - communication.

This vacation had been great in helping me finally heal. I’d been working so hard through the whole divorce, letting my lawyer deal with everything. I wanted nothing from Adam and was ready to move on with my life. This week in paradise had been perfect.

Tonight was our last night; our flight left early tomorrow afternoon. We’d gone out to dinner and stopped at the bar on the beach near the condo. It was nice to be able to have a few drinks and walk home, not having to worry about driving; we planned to party like rock stars during our last night in town.

“Maybe I should stay down here,” I said. “There’s not much left for me in Chicago.”

Alicia shook her head. “Don’t be silly, Erika. You have an amazing law practice and great friends.”

I shrugged my shoulders. My law career was a major contention in my relationship with Adam. He told me repeatedly I chose being a lawyer over being married to him. Maybe he was right.

“Maybe I can’t have a career and a happy relationship,” I muttered. “At least I can’t according to Adam.”

She snorted and rolled her eyes. “He’s a douche and you know better. Don’t let him get into your head. There are plenty of men that would love to be with you.”

“If you say so.” I turned around at the bar and leaned back, resting my elbows on the edge.

“I do say so,” she grinned at me. “I am also banning Adam’s name from all conversation tonight. It’s our last night here and we’re going to have a great time.” She waved the bartender over to get us another round of drinks, batting her baby blue eyes at him. With her long legs and blond hair, she turned heads wherever she went. Sometimes I felt like the ‘ugly’ friend with her, even though I knew with my wavy long chocolate brown hair and hazel eyes, I could hold my own.

I glanced around the bar. There was a decent crowd already and it looked like a band was setting up over in the corner. The guy setting up his guitar caught my attention in particular. He had jet-black hair that was cut short; he didn’t look like someone that was probably a musician full time. The grey his goatee told me he was probably older than my thirty-three years, but I couldn’t be sure. He was wearing khaki shorts, sandals, and a button down red shirt. With his tan, I was guessing he was a Miami native.

I hadn’t paid too much attention to men this week. This vacation was more about having a relaxing week with Alicia and not thinking about men. It was hard not to admire the hot bodies running around on the beaches, but I hadn’t done more than that. This guy was different though. As I watched his hands on the guitar, I couldn’t help but think about the way they would feel on my body.

He looked up from what he was doing and before I could look away, his eyes caught mine. He had dark eyes that matched his hair. He gave me a lazy grin and a wink and my face felt warm from the embarrassment of being caught starting. I gave him a shaky smile and turned back around.

“That guitar player with the band is hot,” I mumbled to Alicia.

“Where?” She spun around to check him out.

“Oh my God, don’t be so obvious!” I shook my head.

“He is,” she leaned into me and said quietly. “You should talk to him.”

I shook my head. “No, I didn’t come to Miami to get another man.”

“Who said anything about a relationship? You could have a good time with him tonight. I say you deserve it.”

I didn’t say anything, thinking about what she’d said. Even back in college, I’d never been the type of girl to hook up. I usually had a steady boyfriend and had never had a one-night stand. I was starting over since my divorce; maybe Alicia had a good idea.

  It wasn’t long
before the band started playing. I’d stolen a few glances at the guitar player before, even catching him looking at me. Maybe he was interested in me too. How was I going to talk to him while he was playing though? It seemed like a lost cause.

“Let’s dance,” Alicia grabbed my hand and dragged me out onto the dance floor before I could even reply. We’d had a few drinks by now and even done a few shots, so I was feeling pretty relaxed and carefree by now.

She found us a spot on the dance floor near the guitar player. He grinned when he saw me and gave me another wink. Feeling brave, I smiled and winked back at him before I began to move my body to the beat of the music. I was glad I’d worn my sexiest blue sundress tonight. I almost hadn’t brought it with me on this trip, but I found it in the back of my closet and decided to throw it in. My hair was piled on top of my head in a messy bun and I had in my silver hoop earrings. My black high-heel sandals completed the look. I worked out regularly, running and doing yoga, so I knew I looked good.

Alicia and I danced like crazy while the band played. I pulled out all my sexiest moves, deciding to throw caution to the wind and see where this flirtation with the guitar player went, if anywhere. Between the dancing and the smoldering looks he was giving me, my body was on fire and my dress felt like it was too tight.

The band announced they were taking a fifteen-minute break and we went back to our place at the bar and ordered more drinks.

“Holy shit, I can’t remember the last time we danced like that,” Alicia said, adjusting the straps on her skimpy black sundress. She’d managed to catch the eye of the lead singer of the band while we were dancing up front by them. Alicia had men lining up to date her but she was busy with her career as the editor of a top fashion magazine. She dated, but never seriously.

I laughed and took a long drink of my margarita. I was so going to feel this tomorrow, but I didn’t care. Tomorrow it was back to reality, so tonight I was going to give it my all.

“I’m going to the restroom,” I said, grabbing my small purse and walking back to the bathrooms. They were off a little hallway where the band played and had their equipment. I caught the eye of the guitar player as I walked by and planned to stop on my way back from the bathroom to talk to him.

I freshened up and checked my makeup in the mirror on the way out of the restroom. I wasn’t one for a lot of makeup, which was good in this heat; it would melt right off of me. I applied another coat of my lip-gloss and took a deep breath. I could do this. I was one of the top prosecutors in Chicago. Talking to a guitar player in a band was no big deal.

I pushed the door open and bumped right into something – or someone. “Excuse me,” I stammered before looking up.

“No problem,” a deep voice replied.

I looked up and there was the guitar player standing right in front of me. “Sorry,” I managed to mumble. Despite my earlier resolve, he’d flustered me so I no longer knew what to say.

“No worries,” he smiled down at me. “I saw you come back here and I thought I would wait so I could introduce myself. It’s so loud out there.” He motioned back towards the bar. He held out a hand. “Hi, I’m Nick.”

I relaxed and put my tiny hand in his. I could feel the callouses on his hands from his guitar playing. “Nice to meet you, Nick. I’m Erika.” He shook my hand, holding onto it longer than necessary.

“You’re not from here, are you?” He asked, resting his arm on the wall next to me.

I shook my head, painfully aware of how close he was to me. I could smell the combination of sweat and his woodsy cologne. “No, I’m from Chicago. My friend and I were on vacation this week. We go back tomorrow.”

“I see,” he replied, his eyes on mine. My heart was racing and I was sure he could see my chest moving rapidly as my breathing got quicker. “Did you guys have a good time?”

I swallowed hard. The electricity in the air between us was palpable and I was sure he was going to kiss me any second. “We did. We didn’t do much besides eat, shop, and lay out on the beach.”

He leaned in further. “Sounds like a good time,” he mumbled. “And tonight you’re living it up since it’s your last night?”

“Something like that,” I almost whispered.

“Good,” he grinned as he leaned in and kissed me. His mouth moved over mine, his tongue slipping between my lips and teasing mine. His hands came up to cup my face and he leaned his hips into mine as he mouth ravaged me. My arms snaked around his neck, my hands playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

He pulled away then, leaving me looking up at him, my breath ragged. “I have to get back. The next break we have, meet me back here.”

I nodded, speechless and he turned and walked away from me. I stayed there for a minute, trying to regain my composure before heading back out by Alicia. A small smile played on my lips as I returned to her; I can’t remember the last time I’d been kissed like that – if ever. Adam certainly had never kissed me like that.

“Where were you?” Alicia asked when she finally saw me. “Are you feeling ok?”

I nodded and looked back towards the band where Nick winked at me. I busted out laughing and turned to her. “I sort of ran into the guitar player on my way out of the bathroom – literally.”

“What?” She asked, her eyes confused.

“When I was coming out I ran into him. He was waiting outside the door for me so he could introduce himself to me. His name is Nick by the way. Then,” I grinned at her like the cat that’d eaten the canary. “He kissed me.”

  “Shut up!” She exclaimed.

I nodded. “He did and it was amazing. He also told me to meet him back there when they take their next break.”

“What the fuck girl?” She laughed. “That’s awesome! I knew he had the hots for you too. I saw the way he watched you while we were dancing.”

“I can’t believe it. Oh my God, Alicia, I have never ever been kissed like that in my life. It was like he was making love to my mouth or something. If his lips and tongue can move like that on my mouth, I can only imagine what he can do in bed.”

“Well, this band looks like the men are probably at least ten or so years older than us. You know what they say about older men in bed?” She winked and raised her eyebrow.

She looked over her shoulder and waved at Nick and the lead singer who were standing together looking at us. I could only imagine what they were saying about us. Maybe this will be a night both of us will always remember.

The band started up again and Alicia and I did another shot before heading out to dance. We pushed our way to the front of the dance floor again, so we were right in front of Nick and the lead singer. Nick’s kiss had made me bold and this time I turned my attention to him while I danced. I moved my hips and ran my hands down my body, shaking my ass in front of him. I would lean forward so he could see down my dress a few times too.

Alicia and I had never been together sexually, but we know how men worked, and we made sure to dance a little close for their viewing pleasure. We even teased them a few times into thinking we’d kiss, but we never did. I swore I saw both guys adjusting erections in their shorts, but I couldn’t be sure.

They announced they were taking another break and we turned to go back to our drinks when I felt a hand grab my arm. I turned around in surprise to see Nick there. The look on his face made me a little nervous. “Come with me,” he growled. He didn’t even wait for my answer, practically pulling me behind him.

I shrugged at Alicia who now had the full attention of the lead singer. I walked quickly, trying to keep up with Nick as he pulled me down the hall where the bathrooms were and out a back entrance. Once outside he turned around and pushed me up against the wall of the building, pinning my body there.

“Fuck, Erika,” he mumbled, moving his hands up my body, stopping to cup my breasts in his large hands. “You’re so sexy.”

I moaned and closed my eyes when his thumbs found my nipples through my dress, stroking them into hard pea
ks. His lips found my neck and I turned my head to give him better access. His lips blazed a trail from my shoulder up to my ear, his teeth nipping my earlobe before he brought his mouth to mine.

“Watching you dance like that in front of me…I almost forgot how to play the guitar,” he muttered against my lips. He circled his hips against mine so I could feel the length of his erection against me. “All I could think about was dragging you back here and fucking you.”

I gasped and shuddered. I’d never been with a man who talked like that; who told me so blatantly what they wanted to do to me. Adam had always been quiet in the bedroom, not saying a word. We did it in the dark and had the same two or three positions we would rotate through. It wasn’t bad sex, but it was always the same sex.

“Are you going to let me fuck you out here, Erika?” He whispered before running his tongue along the shell of my ear. I reached out and clutched the edge of his shirt in my hands, holding on for dear life.

I opened my mouth to answer him but his lips were on mine again, his tongue swirling with mine. His hands slid down my back, reaching down to cup my ass as he continued his assault on my mouth. He dug his fingers into the soft flesh there and lifted me up so I could wrap my legs around his waist. My core was on fire now and I rubbed my sensitive flesh against him, my body begging for release.

He lifted my skirt and teased the edge of my thong with his fingertip before sliding a finger between us. He pressed his finger into the slit between my thighs, moaning into my mouth when he discovered the wetness there. “Fuck,” he muttered, tearing his lips from mine. “You’re so damn wet.” He slipped his fingers under the waistband and pulled hard, the rip of fabric filling my ears. He plunged a finger inside of my wet sex and I dug my nails into his shoulders. “That’s better,” he murmured before nibbling on my neck with the edge of his teeth.

He balanced me against the wall and reached back to his wallet with one hand. He pulled out his wallet and grabbed a condom from it before returning it to his back pocket. “Hold this,” he said through clenched teeth. I took the package between my trembling fingers and watched while he freed his cock from his shorts. The bulbous head glistened with his pre-cum and my pussy twitched with the anticipation of him filling me in a few short seconds.
